In the vast expanse of the ocean’s sway,
Where waves rise high, then fade away,
So too does life, with its ebb and flow,
Generations come, and generations go.
One wave, in its crest, began to ponder,
The mysteries of life, a deep-sea wander,
“Why do we toil? Why do we strive?
What meaning lies in the days we live?”
It called to the wind, with a voice so keen,
To the heavens above, to the spaces unseen,
“Is there purpose in this endless chase?
Or are we but foam, soon to be erased?”
The sun watched on as it sank in the west,
The moon rose high, a quiet guest,
Yet neither light, nor shadowed form,
Could answer the wave’s questions borne.
“Vanity, vanity,” it seemed to sigh,
“All fades away beneath the sky,”
As it rose in splendor, then sank to rest,
Lost in the ocean’s endless quest.
Yet in its fall, as it merged with the sea,
The wave left a whisper, eternally free,
That beyond the horizon, beyond the strife,
There reigns a Sovereign, holding all life.
For the tides submit to His command,
The winds are guided by His hand,
Though the wave may vanish, its quest remains,
But God, in His wisdom, knows all terrains.
So let the wave question, let it yearn,
For answers that it may not discern,
For though it fades, it has played its role,
In the eternal ocean, with a timeless soul.
And when the final wave shall cease,
And the ocean’s roar gives way to peace,
We’ll find the answers were there all along,
In the Sovereign’s hand, where we belong.
The rise and fall, the ebb and flow,
In every wave, His truth does show,
That life is but a fleeting crest,
Yet in His sovereignty, we find our rest.
